Ikechukwu Ndubuisi CEO MyTurkeyApp

Years ago in a shabby town in Orumba I shared that space with a lot of people who mostly came there because Jamb had jammed them. It was a college of education and it didn’t have the glamor of a university but there were individuals who shaped narratives. Boys and girls who you look at and you acknowledge at first gaze that they are stars. Ikechukwu was one of them. This nnewi man with a name that suggests he shares the same amount of strength with the almighty—a name that precedes him. He was a mathematician who like many scientists appears shabby in his big polo and shorts always riding to a meeting or walking to his room in Shagari A hostel.

He had no airs around him. Just a jovial Nnewi man with dreams bigger than him. I knew this about him because I had the luxury of being around powerful people in that school. I watched him closely as an SUG president because there must have been a reason why he was the number one in that school.

One day something happened. Nigeria happened to him. The school management in all their ineptitude rusticated some young men on the grounds of social disobedience. He wasa Victim of rustication in his final year.

Was he distraught? Oh yes! Did it break him? Heck yes!

What did he do? He knew that broken crayons still colored so he picked himself up and went to the capital of Anambra state and began a blog that caused many ripples in recent history. He registered under a political party and ran for office in his community and the people with money bullied the person with ingenuity and substance. A customer of life’s challenges he picked himself up and dusted off the sour memories and soldiered on.

He reminded himself of his Nnewi roots and began business. Became a global shopper for people around the world and in all his years of this service, he hasn’t been accused of a missing naira. He moved out of the country and now he has started a company with promise of global success.

Today he has launched an app called MyTurkeyApp.com

For my blog I asked him 4 questions about this app and he answers.

Click the link below to read and also for your question about this app to be answered.

Anyafulugo: So Ik I remember how you inspired my first poem. Can you tell me what happened that year between you and the Provost?

IK: What happened between me and the Provost?: I don’t think I have a problem with Prof. I’ve learnt a lot now about authority and power, I can now see from his own perspective, I may have done nothing wrong but I think He has something to protect too.

Anyafulugo:Your blog was successful and was a reference point in political conversations in Anambra at a time. Why did you abandon the blog?

IK: Abandoning Blog: You can’t abandon what you love to do. Yes I couldn’t hold on to naaija.com that was popular with me because I travelled and I had to find food in a strange land before thinking about renewing domains. I still have a few blogs to my credit like selftruths.com.

Anyafulugo: What inspired this new app? What void do you intend it to fill?

IK: My inspiration: Sincerely? I love to solve whatever problem I can, problem solving is the reason I read mathematics, problem solving is the reason I venture into the places you find me.

You have platforms like Alibaba and others for China, Do you have for Turkey? Have you asked why? Despite Turkey topping world charts for textile, building materials and furniture

Basically the problem MyTurkeyApp will solve isn’t a new problem, the new problem is in itemizing those problems

1 - Easing the complicated nature of buying from Turkey.

2 - Creating an all English platform for global customers to access Turkey markets right from their dial pads.

3 - Providing a starting point for people with little capital to venture in the Turkey business

4 - Serve as a reliable intermediary between customers across the world and the Turkish suppliers.

MyTurkeyApp is simply bringing the Turkish market to everyone’s fingertips

Anyafulugo: Make a wish for this app let me pray over it with Kolanut! Remember the gods when the wish comes through!

IK:Making a wish: Let this app get never get to the wrong hands
